King’s birthday honours list recognises built environment leaders
The King’s 2024 birthday honours list includes people from across the UK who have demonstrated “selfless and innovative service to others”
More than 1,000 people have been recognised for their “immeasurable impact on the lives of people across the country” in this year’s King’s birthday honours list.
Nine of these individuals are from the built environment:
- Suzannah Nichol MBE, CEO of Build UK – OBE awarded for services to the construction industry
- Kate Tinsley, CEO of MKM Building Supplies – OBE awarded for services to the construction sector and to diversity
- Angela Forbes, CEO of BuildForce – MBE awarded for services to the construction sector
- Francois Samuel, retired head of building regulations at the Welsh Government – MBE awarded for services to the construction industry in Wales
- Gillian Kiy, lately building safety legislation lead at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities – MBE awarded for services to building safety
- Clara Bagenal George, founder of the Low Energy Transformation Initiative (LETI) – MBE awarded for services to the built environment and to climate change
- William Joseph Young, project manager at South West College, County Tyrone – MBE awarded for services to civil engineering education
- Dervilla Mitchell CBE, Arup Group director – DBE awarded for services to engineering
- Dr Fiona Spencer, advisory director at the Infrastructure and Project Authority – CBE awarded for public service
