Innovate UK launches AI training programme for construction leaders
New training programme aims to prepare the construction industry for "a new era of innovation"
A new training programme has been launched for UK construction professionals to help "demystify" artificial intelligence (AI).
AI in construction: Skills for the future, created by Innovate UK BridgeAI programme in partnership with Trilateral Research, aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the AI technologies that are impacting the construction industry.
The programme focuses on three areas of activity that reflect different levels of experience and organisational needs:
- Building connections: AI insights for construction managers and leaders – these evening events will bring together construction managers and industry leaders to network and share AI insights. Attendees can engage with AI experts and learn from early adopters who are already seeing the benefits of AI in construction projects.
- AI Construction Training (ACT) – aimed at mid-managers in SMEs, these online training sessions are free to access. Topics will include AI project management, automation of routine tasks, predictive analytics, and the use of AI for enhancing safety on-site.
- AI in construction: Unlocking ROI for senior leaders – these webinars are focused on senior stakeholders and decision-makers. The sessions will explore how AI can streamline processes, improve decision-making, and increase profitability. Attendees will also learn about regulatory considerations and the impact of AI on compliance and safety standards.
Harnessing innovation
Commenting on the launch, Sara El-Hanfy, head of AI and machine learning at Innovate UK, said the training programme represents “a major step forward” in preparing the industry for the future.
“AI is already making waves in industries around the world, and construction is no exception,” El-Hanfy added. “We want to ensure that professionals at every level are equipped to take advantage of AI’s benefits and lead their organisations into a new era of innovation.
“Our goal is to provide practical, hands-on training that demystifies AI for construction professionals. This is not just about learning theory – it’s about applying AI in real-world construction scenarios to drive tangible results.”
Registration is now open for the first in-person networking evening, which is scheduled for 28 November in Manchester. Find more information and register for the event here.
