Homebuilding training scheme opens for women applicants
Employment programme now open for second cohort applications
Women into Construction (WiC) has partnered with the Home Builders Federation and nine major homebuilders to create an employment programme for women.
The programme is for women who are interested in project management and want to pursue a career in homebuilding.
The nine homebuilders – Barratt Developments, Bellway, Cala Group, The Hill Group, Keepmoat, Persimmon, Redrow, St.Modwen Homes and Vistry Group – will provide work placements, as well as insight into their companies and the wider industry.
Three cohorts will run throughout 2023, with applications for the second cohort now open.
The programme is open to all women aged 18 and over. A minimum qualification of GCSE Maths and English Grade 4/C and above (or equivalent) is required.
The three-week, full-time training programme will comprise one week online and two weeks at an employer site location.
WiC will provide travel expenses and support towards childcare during the placement.
An online information and virtual site visit event will be held on 15 May, which will give potential applicants an opportunity to find out more about the programme and meet the employers.
