Construction supplier extends support for housebuilding skills
Grayson is providing products and training to support new talent
Supplier Grayson is extending its partnership with the National House Building Council (NHBC) to help advance industry education standards.
Through the partnership, the company will provide construction resources, including brickwork sundries and training aids, to support the next generation of industry professionals.
As part of the agreement, Grayson’s specification and product manager, Katie Wills, is visiting NHBC’s five academies across the UK to deliver training to learners.
The training covers products such as cavity trays, wall ties and fire barriers, including the non-combustible versions introduced following the Grenfell Tower fire.
The training aims to ensure learners are equipped to use these materials, whether for high-rise or standard-sized housing developments.
Wills said: "Working closely with the NHBC academies is an incredible opportunity to share our knowledge and help trainees develop the practical skills they’ll need on-site.
“The hands-on training we provide, whether with cavity trays or the latest non-combustible materials, is designed to ensure that learners are confident using the products that meet today’s high safety and performance standards.
“It’s rewarding to see how these sessions, combined with our tailored learning aids, are helping the students gain a real understanding of best practices in modern construction.”
Grayson’s bespoke learning aids also include specialised bricklaying frames. These frames, now rolled out across all NHBC training hubs, help apprentices and students ensure that bricks and blockwork are laid straight, while also speeding up the bricklaying process.
Tony Higson, managing director at Grayson, commented: “At Grayson, we are passionate about supporting the next generation of construction professionals.
“By providing these advanced resources and expert training, we aim to bridge the gap between education and the demands of the modern construction industry, ensuring that learners are not just prepared for being on site, but also excel in their careers.”
