CIOB set to celebrate Pride in London 2024
Pride in London celebrations will take place across the capital this weekend
The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has announced it will officially join the Pride in London parade for the first time ever.
A group of around 40 people, including CIOB employees, members, and employees from CIOB company members, will participate in the parade on 29 June.
CIOB will be joining five other built environment bodies – RICS, RIBA, RTPI, ICE and the Landscape Institute – to celebrate ‘Pride in the built environment’.
The annual parade celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and encourages equality, diversity and inclusion.
This year’s event features the #WeAreEverywhere campaign, which aims to shine a light on the presence of London’s LGBTQ+ community.
Mark Harrison, head of EDI transformation at CIOB, said: “We’re excited to be taking part in Pride for the first time as it will be a fantastic platform for us to demonstrate our commitment to developing an inclusive built environment industry that is welcoming to all.
“Making the sector more attractive to a wider range of people, including those from the LGTBQ+ community, is one way to address the skills crisis so joining the Pride parade along with representatives from other industry bodies is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the breadth of roles that come under the built environment umbrella.”
