Bouygues signs Menopause Workplace Pledge
Contractor has strengthened its effort to support and inform employees affected by the menopause in the workplace
Bouygues UK has announced its commitment to the Wellbeing of Women’s Menopause Workplace Pledge.
By signing the pledge, employers commit to ensuring anyone going through the menopause is supported.
Employers are encouraged to take at least one positive action a year towards becoming a menopause positive workplace.
According to the British Menopause Society, 45% of women say their menopause symptoms have a negative impact on their work.
The research shows one in four women transitioning into menopause say they don’t get the support they need from their manager, while 47% of women who have needed to take a day off work due to menopause symptoms say they wouldn’t tell their employer the real reason.
Fabienne Viala, chair and CEO of Bouygues UK, said: "The statistics from the British Menopause Society on menopause in the workplace speak for themselves.
“With one in four women going through menopause without feeling they have any support at work, and almost half taking a day off work for symptoms but feeling unable to share that with their employer, it’s clear that women experiencing menopausal symptoms need to feel better supported at work during this time.
"At Bouygues UK we want to do everything possible to support and educate our staff about menopause and signing the Wellbeing of Women’s Menopause Pledge is a step in the right direction.
“By opening the conversation about menopause and providing a respectful, transparent, supportive work environment, we are proud to sign the pledge and recognise the challenges around working and menopause.”
